Calling all Wordsmiths

By James Taylor

We at Broken Britain are looking for a new term that sums up what’s currently going on in the police force. Since the 80’s, the term “police brutality” has been used to conjure up images of baton wielding thugs in uniform who beat up the common man and collude to ensure no one is brought to justice.

Times have changed. No longer do police wield batons at the deserving criminal classes; they wield dog bootees at photographers and grandmothers playing with their grandchildren.

The police are now more worried about whether a police dog will cause offence to a Muslim or cause a suspected criminal to suffer a panic attack than they are about keeping the peace and upholding the law for the honest, law-abiding folk who still live in this country.

We need a new term. “Police Insanity” may be over the top but is along the lines of what we’re looking for.

Please send us your ideas by the end of September by commenting below. The brokenbritain.org team will judge the winning suggestion and send the winner £10 by paypal.

  1. Lynne Hawkinson Says:

    Police triviality.

Happens here in the US, too, only with the homeless as the demonized. They die in droves for such misbehavior as “standing in the cold” or “buying a fast-food sandwhich while retarded.”
