It’s not often I stand up for Gordon Brown.
However, I feel I must say something about the recent “handwritinggate” affair running its course in the tabloid media.
It is wholly right that Gordon Brown should write a personal letter to each of the families bereaved by the conflict in the Middle East and he should be respected for that.
It is right too, that Brown apologised for seemingly misspelling one of the late soldier’s names.
So what’s the problem?
There isn’t one.
The Sun has overstepped the mark in an otherwise slow news week.
